Afr Jumping and mapping (alfa 3.0v6)

Postby gtv-racer » Sat Aug 11, 2012 12:18 pm

Hello,

Some problems here.

My engine setup:

Alfa 3.0V6
Dis coil (ford)
New injectors (340cc/min)

At first why is my calculated Ve mapping so off. Had to adjust it a lot and it stil needs a lot of work.
Did calculate it with the generator in megatune. Filled in my engine spec's. But then it was a lot to rich.

And second: I have a lot of short peaks towards the lean side. Also the engine cough a lot. I don't see why.
Something what crossed my mind when i used the timinglight that it didn't work on al the plugs.
Coils are fired in sets. Al the sets fired fired with the trigger light but only the upper part. When i puled out the plug that didn't fire on the timinglight, it fired just fine outside the engine :?

anyone any thoughts?

I als0 think when i look at the log that te labda sensor is broken. Could it be it got clogged. Had a lot of starting issues at the beginning. Much bleu smoke..

Can you clean it if so and what's the best way to clean it?

Blue smoke is more often caused by engine issues rather than fueling! (rings, valve guides etc.)

Bleu smoke is gone now. And the engine didn't smoke bleu before i built the megasquirt on.
Think there was some oil in the engine (partly rebuilt it).

Tanks for the thoughts on it!

Some other ideas someone?

Maybe you should get your fuel injectors checked / cleaned?

I have had the same issue with my car. Some of the "noise" on the AFR disappeared when I ditched the direct coil drive and installed EDIS. Still there are some lean spikes and I am going to clean my injectors in ultrasonic cleaner. During a sylinder head rebuild I saw that one exhaust valve stem had a white color. This might be the one cylinder that is the cause. Maybe you have the same problem?

that is a good one. Injectors are changed for bigger ones. They are second han so they might be the problem. Going to check them.

Thanks for your anwer!

Anyone got a simple setup for injector testing?

Injector testing,

I used output test, clean glass jar's and a kitchen scale.
So you can measure the weight each injector produces and calculate back to cc if you want.
Go for nearly full jar's so faultmeasure is lesser depending on accurate of the kitchen scale.
