Help with AE Tuning

Postby R100RT » Sun Jun 03, 2012 4:29 pm

Let me restructure question (as I'm not seeking a shortcut but understanding of the method).
With current stable and previously unatainable tuning results, I'm at a point I'm ready to try accel enrichments again.
I could use some clarification on the Accel Enrichment Wizard page, in regards to scaling of the "TPS" based AE.

Rate is listed as %/s - can someone explain how that relates to throttle twist - especially with numbers over 100? Been :RTFM: but haven't found clarity.
Perhaps a link to where its described?
Comments appreciated.

The %/s unit is the acceleration rate of the throttle movement. It is the difference between the TP% value now and TP% value one delta time later.

Example : time 1 = 10.026s ; time 2 = 10.040s ; TP%1 = 10% ; TP%2 = 20%

TPSdot = (TP%2 - TP%1) / (time2 - time1) = (20%-10%) / (10.040-10.026) = 714 %/s

This is approximatively how it works. Bascially, this the numerical derivative over time of the TP% variable.

The way I think about it is 100%/sec is closed to fully open in 1 second. In TS there is a graph which shows the rate of opening which you can watch with the motor not running or running if youy neighbors do not mind(This is on MS1 not sure of others).Steve..

Thank you both. This is material I will reflect on this weekend when "weather permitting" I will negotiate that portion of my template to ice up the cake so to speak.
The neighbours don't know, but I have two levels of muffling on the bike and can stealth various early start ups and running time without notice (divertor @ "Y" allows that or a more generous audible notification when induction system is ramping up

I decided to reload firmware on my spare MicroSquirt ECU, and choose to try now the "ms2extra_3.2.3_beta".
In reviewing procedure, I stumbled again onto the advisory relative to AE for Extra code, which I list below:

Megasquirt 2 (MS2/Extra) non-sequential
You can mostly load your MS2/Extra 2.1.0 tune into MS2/Extra 3.0.x

Key differences Sequential fuel supported (with hardware mods.) Accel enrichment TPSdot values 10x larger.
Be sure to alter these values in the Acceleration Wizard. Open up the values table for the TPS based AE curve and multiply all values in the rate% column by 10. Find TPSdot threshold and multiply that by 10.
These are the default settings:

Those default values are 210/ 400/ 800/ & 1540 in the %/s collumn (here :RTFM: - http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/upgrade.html )
So if 100%/sec was closed to fully open in 1 second, would that now become a figure of 1000 in the chart?

This 10x difference apply only to people that are coming from a standard B&G MS2 code to the MS2extra code (it is how I understand it from the link you've posted).

I'm pretty sure that the MS2extra TPSdot represent the reality now. You can still try it, take a log and try to go from completely closed to open TP in about 1 sec. The TPSdot should indicate values in the 100%/s range.
