Feature request - spark advance

Postby Marek » Thu Jul 26, 2012 10:01 am

Rather than changing ignition maps, which may already be fully in use, would it be easy to to implement a spark advance adjustment to the whole map using one of the spare inputs?

For example 0-5v input would correspond to a 0-5 degrees of advance added to the ignition map. This would neatly cater for different fuel types. I would envisage this being used simply as a pot or rotary switch under the dash somewhere and switched up or down depending on the fuel grade selected.

kind regards
Marek

i was thinking about doing this quite a while ago but never got to it. you can use flex fuel just make gas and e85 the same req fuel just use spark advance. it would need a 555 timer(frequency based) setup to do this

It's something easy to do with MegaJolt but a bit expensive to buy if you've already invested in MegaSquirt

Use the knock input with various frequencies?
Always doing things the hard way, MS2 sequential w/ v1.01 mainboard, LS2 coils. 80 mile/day commuter status.

you could use the flex fuel input with a variable freq generator circuit also
