MS3X won't start car when hot... Runs great otherwise

Ok, I'll attach the .msq and a log of whats going on when the motor is hot.. It starts and runs GREAT when cold, up to 4k rpm (Engine is in break-in period) .. As soon as it's hot, I can shut the car off, and it will not start up.. I did a composite log and trigger log and a tooth logger, seems very odd. There is ZERO triggers (from the cam, single tooth, rear sensor) The Tooth logger also looks off from when it's first starting.

The car runs great, doesn't shut off, but when I shut it off and try to restart, there's no cam signal.. It's confusing me a bit.

MS3X on a 2006 Nissan 350Z with a 2JZGTE swapped in.
Running on crank sensor and cam sensor, tooth#1 angle is 17, timing is spot on..

The cranking pulse may be a little weird when it's hot, seemed like it was cranking lean, so I added fuel, then realized it was the cam sensor.

Are you saying it won't re-start immediately after a hot shut-down, or does it take a "heat soak" period for hot starting to fail? Post a .msl run-log that covers both running hot and then the failed re-start.

I had the exact same problem (different car though)... car runs great, starts nice when cold but on a hot start, it was very difficult to get it running...

I thought it was a tuning issue, but we finally found out it was a WIRING issue, more exactly, the way the MS grounds were wired. I rewired all the grounds and it starts perfectly...

I can start it cold, perfect.

Drive it until it gets to running temp and keep driving it and keep driving it.


If I shut it off when it's at running temp, it will NOT restart until it cools down a lot.

The cam signal seems wrong when the car is hot, but not when running, only when trying to start it when it's hot..

Makes no sense.

Just as an update, fixed the problem.. Ended up being the cam sensor polarity..

Reset the VR pots, and changed the triggle angle and polarity on the cam sensor, revs to 6500+ no issues so far!
