Hi guys,
first of all I have to admit that my knowledge about (car-) electronics is fairly limited and I first came across Megasquirt/diypnp only 10 days ago. But what was intended to be a simple 'soldering job' somewhat became my responsibility, So, the 'learning curve' was pretty steep and thanks to Matt Cramer's great support the project got along quite well - until now.
OK, what do we have:
1990 Chevy C1500
DIYPNP V1.5 with D56 connector-board
(DIYPNPD56-K Kit)
MS2/Extra firmware release 3.2.2
TunerStudio MS V1.006
I used the 1988-1992 Chevy TBI V8 setup as a kind of blueprint.
http://www.diyautotune.com/diypnp/apps/ ... bi-v8.html
The ECUs from the 'passenger cars' were slightly more sophisticated (for example no IAT/MAT sensor I/O in the 1227747 ECU) but generally they were identical. I had to route A11 to D2 as SG for TPS - but that was all about it.
The problem: generally the sensors do work but there is no rpm-signal and therefore no spark - which means the motor doesn't fire up.
I don't think that this is a 'software problem' - I tried the msq provided with the Chevy setup (no rpm) but just to be sure I started a new project in TunerStudio (in fact a couple of times) but that didn't help either.
So, finally it seems to come down to a problem with the ignition. The car has a GM HEI 8 pin module, the pinout is explained here:
ftp://ftp.diy-efi.org/pub/gmecm/manuals ... 47ecm6.jpg
As mentioned before I jumpered these as advised in the Chevy TBI V8 setup:
IGN1 connects to D4 (EST)
OPTO IN- connects to B5 (Reference)
5V connects to D5 (Bypass)
GND connects to B3 (Ref Low)
OPTO GND is not jumpered
OPTO+ is connected to 5V via 470 Ohm pull up
Since this didn't seem to work for this car I was advised to take a look here:
http://www.diyautotune.com/diypnp/docs1 ... ntrol.html
Looks basically the same, except for 'B' (Bypass) is connected to 'IGN2'. I also tried that - didn't do anything either.
Besides there are no connectors from the coil (VR+ and VR-) to the ECU-connector. Will I need these...?
Sorry for the lengthy post and sorry for my ignorance - maybe the problem comes down to something very easy. But right now I'm out of ideas.
Thanks for your help.
P.S. I'll upload the most up to date msq-file as soon as I have access to the notebook which is currently attached to the car.
