IAC Stepper Install

Post by RfOeCnKdOeNr »

Hi,

I am attempting to install the IAC stepper driver on my own... The board is a v3.0 MS2 board with a FIDLE driver installed.. when i talked to symtech they said this:

"Your MegaSquirt ECU uses a v3.0 board. You will find the only jumpers you actually need to install are JS1 to IAC1B and JS3 to IAC2B (the rest are already installed). Again, you will lose the tachometer and general purpose output functions by doing this, though."

... Well, when I opened up the ECu to do this I found some weird things that didn't jive with what they said...

I am trying to hook up the IAC now and there is a jumper in IAC1B and IAC2B... the IAC1B jumper goes through a transistor and resistor in the proto area before connecting to JS0... IAC2B goes through R37 and jumps to another resistor...

Should I eliminate all of this and simply run the correct JS numbers to the correct IAC numbers? What is all the stuff in the proto area... looks like it is connecting to the JS9 and 12v./.

Please help!

Your MegaSquirt ECU has a few circuits built in the proto area (they look like a general purpose output and tachometer output). If you don't want or need these circuits, just remove them and connect JS0-JS3 to the IACxx pins like normal. You will also have to relocate the second ignition driver output from IAC2B to SPR4. Be sure to connect the SPR4 through-hole directly to the DB37 pin with a short length of jumper wire as the trace can't handle enough current.

For anyone who stumbles on this in the future here are the images Symtech labs sent me back to show which wires need to be cut and jumped.... Thanks guys!
