Volvo/Renix wheel

Postby pettaw » Sat Feb 17, 2007 2:29 am

Hiya guys, I've been lurking for a while and am looking to migrate over to MS2extra to get better tuneability.

Do you know whether the ignition will work with the 44-2-2 Volvo/Renix flywheel?

It works fine with MS1extra, setting the A point only and leaving B point blank. It has a dizzy, so it'll direct the sparks to the correct plug, but will it crash the code, cos the ignition code works differently in MS2 to MS1 doesn't it?

Thanks for reading

That wheel won't work at the moment as MS2/Extra does more "thinking" about the wheel and cares whether it is a crank wheel, a cam wheel or half a crank wheel in this case. So setting it as 22-1 will most likely generate an error.

Lol OK James. Even the MS1 code crashes if I set the teeth to 22, but for some reason it works great if I set the teeth to 44 and then just use point A.

When you start coding your special wheel decoders, any chance of seeing if they'll work with this wheel?

What do you mean by "crashes" (this isn't Windows you know!)

Ahh, sorry. I mean it starts and idles OK, but you start getting misfires at about 2,000 rpm and they get progressively worse, so it won't rev above 2500 at all.

If you set your tooth count to 44, it works fine.
