Hey guys and gals....
With all the talk of newer laptops not having comm ports anymore, and people needing USB connectivity...

Has anyone considered (or have tested) something like this!
check out ebay item # 160048055371 it's a small ckt board USB to ttl converter

How hard would you all think it would be to build one into the MS box directly?

We've built and tested a few USB Megasquirts, and have step by step directions on our website for how to set one up with the board we use:

This uses a slightly different circuit board than the one in the auction, but the idea's the same.

Matt, i have installed the dlp-txrx and my computer recognizes it being there but it doesn't see it as a usb and wants a driver?

Yes, it needs a VCP driver for this. Often this will install on its own with no trouble, but sometimes it doesn't. You can get the driver here:

VCP driver for Windows 2000 & XP

And you'll find the install guides at the bottom of this page.

Has been working quite well and then started to hang. It will start when the motor is not running and will work for a couple of second upon startup or restart and then crashes. I initially thought that the only way to get it to come back online was to restart the PC but tonight I left it alone for an hour and it came back?. I have deleted and uninstalled all components several times to no avail, and re-burned the 029v firmware.

Started after I went to 029V but not right away, 029V actually made the jump to excellent running.

Just when I thought I had won????

Still runs well, which is good since It no longer cares to be tuned....

No change when using my wifes new laptop...

Tried to turn off write block in .ini and add a 50 writeblockdelay- no change

bump for this problem, I have the diy internal usb converter also. Once the car starts megatune freezes every time without fail. I can't find a solution to this problem as of now.

I just decided to try it on megatunix and megatunix instead of locking up returns me this error.

1978. Error Opening "COM7", Error Code: No such file or directory

This is on a fresh firmware flash and everything. The converter "works", I can flash the ecu, and change settings on it. The moment the motor actually starts and is running though communications stops. So I can't tune the ms at all right now.

try checking all the connections at the ECU end. I had a comms issue and it turned out to be a dry joint on the RS232 serial comms chip (not USB I know).

that too seemed to deteriorate over time till in the end I couldn't see the MS.
