First datalog Ms1 V2.2

Postby knoxmotorsports » Wed Nov 16, 2011 2:45 pm

Hey all, this is our first datalog and msq post since we got our e30 project on the road!

1986 BMW 325e, 325i head swap, 11:1 pistons, Ireland Engineering 272 cam, big valves, ported head.
MS1 V2.2 assembled by Linuxman51, modified by myself to add Glens Garage daughtercard.
PnP install using the connector from a stock Bosch ECU in the stock location in the glovebox.
We retrofitted a stock 325i crank trigger 60-2 wheel and impulse sender and adjusted the air gap to factory specs (from memory, 1mm)
Spark has been verified and is correct. Car runs pretty well despite not being tuned.

Using WB02 input, single direct drive coil output (GG coil board) with stock BMW Bosch coil and stock distributor. No idle control, no table switching etc
20lb/hr Mustang injectors, running 3bar fuel pressure.

This datalog is from a mostly highway cruise (13500 lines, sorry!) with some varied RPM points in/around the 2500-3500rpm range. Trying to hash that area out first to improve mileage and drivability where the car spends most of its time.

I noticed occasionally TP/DC1/DC2/PW1/PW2 drop out to 0 for a few lines. But battery voltage and spark angle do not change, so I doubt it is a reset. Map drops low (25-30kpa) and it goes lean (~4volts). Only thought I had is it could be our decel fuel cut.

Only other weirdness I can deduce from the log is duty Cycle 1 and 2 are not the same. In fact, DC2 is almost double DC1, while PW1/2 are about the same.

Any ideas or thoughts? Have not had it on the dyno yet as we are still working out the base map first.

Billy

HI

Look I'm posting a reply with-out looking at the data log, I once had a similar issue and found it help to add some delay on the decell setting. From memory I used about 0.5 sec wait.

Hope it helps and I will try to look at the log.

Regards

Does anyone know why our duty cycles between channels 1 and 2 are so different?

This does not make any sense to me.

Here is a warmup log. It is horribly rich until ~160 seconds or so. at data point ~4800 or so, the o2 (LC1) took a dive and stopped reading. It is more or less reliable, though.

Please help!

The different duty cycles is a known MegaTune bug.

Hi

Ok so I have looked at the second datalog and the first MSQ. I understand that you are trying to solve the issue on cruise for economy :? .

I have made some changes to the MSQ
1 change was in the EGO settings to include cruising
2 changed the setting to the decell cutoff to make sure there isn't unnecessary fuel cuts
3 I have also enabled the AFR table for VE1 so the o2 has a target to aim for

Please note these are the settings I would use not necessary the correct ones for your car but do try it.

You also may need to make sure your TPS is calibrated

The best of luck and I hope these settings help..
